In 2002, Patrick and Shari Bailey were commissioned and sent out by the Ocean Hills Community Church, San Juan Capistrano, California, to do medical outreaches. Teach rural Pastors among the unreached people in the Visayan and Mindanao Islands. Patrick and Shari met with and were touched by the Bajao, the most primitive and marginalized people group in the Philippines.

Using Shari’s many years of extensive RN experience she provided medical care and taught them to access available medical resources. Patrick explained Christianity to the Bajao, whose reliance on witchcraft and centuries-old traditions, was contributing to the discrimination of the Bajao by the Philippine population. This kept the Bajao stuck in their downward cycle of extreme poverty, helplessness and hopelessness.
As of today, the Bailey’s have remained the only foreigners working in the Bajao villages. They disciple, empower and employ the Bajao people, helping them obtain gainful employment, become accepted and productive members of the Philippine Society.
